“Autumn Signs”

The bales of hay and falling leaves,
The slightly barer leafy trees,
The apple orchards and their fruit,
The tea from dandelion root,
The shorter days and harvest moon,
Are signs that Fall will be here soon.
Now bonfires during evening skies,
Now whipped cream on pumpkin pies,
Now harvest festivals and fun,
Now shorter days and shorter sun,
Now feasts of food this time of year -
The signs that Fall is finally here.
Then shopping for the holidays,
Then prepping in all kinds of ways,
For winter, which will soon become,
The substitute for our beloved Autumn.
